NFL Pre-Season – TSN, starts August 1
Fantasy Football fans unite! Your five-week long pre-season is here, and your team players are ripe for the picking.
Hobbs & Shaw – in Theatres August 2
Sworn enemies and smack-talk specialists, loyal lawman Hobbs (played by Dwayne Johnson) and lawless outcast Shaw (Jason Statham), an ex-military elite operative, are forced to team up to save the world from the peril of a bio-threat-wielding anarchist (Idris Elba).
Rogers Cup – Sportsnet, August 3–11
Canada’s greatest tennis tournament will take place once again at the AVIVA Centre on the York University campus, where they’ll welcome back the G.O.A.T., Serena Williams, for the first time in four years. This year’s tournament is setting up to be one of the best in history.
BH90210 – FOX, August 7
We’ve been waiting for this ever since their first announcements earlier this year. Expect nostalgia to reign supreme throughout this six-part reboot featuring original cast members.
GLOW – NETFLIX, August 9
In Season 3, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are off to sparkling Las Vegas for a full set of shows. Power struggles, sexual tension, and shifting priorities … will the gang be able to maintain their bonds, or will their wrestling moves move from the mat to real life?
The Righteous Gemstones – HBO, August 18 Series Premiere
The Gemstone family is living proof that worship is profitable, especially for their megachurch. The second generation of a respected televangelist family, the three grown Gemstone children jockey to find their place in – or out of – the family legacy, while the family patriarch, Eli Gemstone (John Goodman), struggles with the loss of his wife and his life’s purpose.
Succession – HBO, August 11
Season 2 is starting right where Season 1 left off – with a dramatic cliffhanger. Fresh off five Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series, Succession follows the Roy family as they fight to keep control of their family empire amid uncertainty and a threatening past.
